I don’t know if it’s obvious enough by the title… is it? 

This book literally takes place in Y2K, New York City (Sex and the City much?). Our protagonist is an unnamed wealthy young woman who decides to spend her year in a sleepy, drug-induced haze. With an unhinged psychiatrist who prescribes pills…generously, our main character narrates what she remembers from her fever dream of a year.

Gemini (May 21-June 21): Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

In this household, we are Amy Elliott-Dunne apologists! Something about her adaptable, intelligent, and charming nature is as impressive as it is disturbing. Pro tip? Don’t get on her bad side. 

Told from two perspectives, this novel follows a pretty, wealthy woman who suddenly goes missing under suspicious circumstances and her husband, who races against time to find her.

Cancer (June 22-July 22): Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins 

My sweet baby boy Haymitch, what have they done to you…Compassionate, protective, and resilient, Cancers will walk through hell and back for the ones they love. 

The second prequel to the infamous trilogy, The Hunger Games. This story follows the then-younger mentor to our beloved Katniss, Haymitch Abernathy. We watch what he endures during the 50th Hunger Games and how those events serve as the backdrop for the events leading up to Katniss’s games.

Leo (July 23-August 22): The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid 

Talk about a girl with main character syndrome! Evelyn exudes that notorious confident Leo energy we hear so much about. Also magnetic and strong, Evelyn is a prime example of the beauty of Leos. 

A famous, older actress hires a journalist to help her write an autobiography about her days as a Hollywood starlet in the 1950s. The actress, Evelyn Hugo, recounts her journey and finally answers decades-old questions as to how–and why–she married seven times.

Virgo (August 23-September 22): Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus

I just know that a majority of scientists have heavy Virgo placements. Hardworking, analytical, and detail-oriented, Elizabeth Zott is the epitome of a Virgo!

Set in 1960s America, the audience follows an underrated yet brilliant scientist-turned-cooking show host as she tries to make her mark in a male-dominated society. Bonus: a sprinkle of romance never hurt anybody!

Libra (September 23-October 23): Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid 

If I had to guess (which I am), I’d say Daisy Jones is a Libra– girly pop was running around town drinking and doing drugs as a teen, which takes quite the combination of sociability and charm! Also artistic, Daisy appreciates aesthetic beauty. 

A reporter is writing a story on a 1970s band named Daisy Jones and the Six. The band recalls their time spent on the road, their relationships, and the dynamic they had with their two lead singers, Daisy Jones and Billy Dunne. This novel explores addiction, the consequences of fame, and healing.

Scorpio (October 24-November 21): You by Caroline Kepnes

I think the entire internet agrees that Joe reflects all the positive and negative aspects of Scorpios (heavy on the negative part). Intense, determined, and charismatic– this sign will stop at nothing to get what they want. 

We follow Joe, a bookstore employee, navigating life in modern-day New York City. Enter Guinevere Beck. Joe begins obsessing over the pretty aspiring writer, going so far as to stalk her both online and in person and insert himself into her life. This dangerous cat-and-mouse game leads to a series of events that turn deadly.

Sagittarius (November 22-December 21): Circe by Madeline Miller 

Circe is a powerful goddess-turned-sorceress, a woman exiled. Luckily for her, Sagittarians love freedom and independence! Their free spirit is inspiring and coveted by many. 

This book is set in ancient Greece and retells the story of Circe from Homer’s The Odyssey. It focuses solely on Circe, from her birth to when she meets Odysseus, along with other famous figures from Greek mythology.

Capricorn (December 22-January 19): The Housemaid by Freida McFadden

It makes sense that the main character of The Housemaid would be a Capricorn. Millie, a new maid for the Winchesters, is hard-working, disciplined, and practical. 

This thriller starts off innocently enough when Millie begins working for a seemingly nice couple and their little girl. However, the longer she lives with the Winchesters, the stranger things become. Hiding a dangerous past, Millie assimilates into her new role as she begins uncovering family secrets– secrets that may just cost her her life.

Aquarius (January 20-February 18): The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

Widely known for their intellectual, unconstrained, and eccentric nature, Aquarians will feel right at home with their new heroine, Addie LaRue. 

It is 1714. Addie LaRue, a young woman from a small French village, pleadingly makes a deal with a god to be free from her forced marriage. Unbeknownst to her, when she makes the deal, however, the god curses her, along with giving her immortality. She is to be forgotten by everyone she encounters. Centuries later, she discovers a young man who does not, in fact, forget who she is. Exploring themes of loneliness, need for connection, and identity, this book will resonate with a lot of my Aquarius friends!

Pisces (February 19-March 20): Mary Jane by Anya Blau

Compassionate, intuitive, and adaptable, Pisceans will immediately see their younger selves in the central character of this novel. 

Mary Jane, a sheltered fourteen-year-old girl from Baltimore, takes a summer job as a nanny to a five-year-old. The little girl’s father, a well-respected doctor, begins secretly treating a rock star for substance abuse issues at the same time. The longer Mary Jane spends time with the family, the more she begins to unlearn biases she grew up learning and starts to form her own identity. A wonderfully written coming-of-age novel that will not disappoint!
